v Japanese merchant's chest (choba-dansu) in Keyaki. It consists of eight drawers and two sliding doors. The two side handles are fixed in the extension of the sides. The hardware is made of wrought iron. Choba-dansu chests were used by merchants on the choba (raised platform of a store) to store daifukucho (account books) and related commercial materials. Dimensions: Height: 87 cm; Length: 77 cm; Width: 39 cm. Origin: Japan. Period: Edo period (1603-1868) - 19th century. Conditions: Very good overall condition.
