Sarpedon, Henri Peinte, bronze 19th century H87cm. Bronze representing Sarpedon Son of Zeus and Europe bending his bow. Bronze with its original patina, signed by the artist and the founder Siot decauville. In a superb state of conservation Height 87cm Biography: Sculptor, Henri Peinte (1845-1912) attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he was a student of Francisque Duret, Eugène Guillaume and Jules Cavelier. He exhibited for the first time at the Salon of 1877 and won a third class medal and the Prix du Salon, with a statue of Sarpedon. Sarpedon earned him a Grand Prix at the Universal Exhibition of 1889, the year he was decorated with the Legion of Honor. The original plaster model is currently kept at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Coulommiers. Several bronze editions can be found at the Museum of Fine Arts in Rouen.
