"Yellow Silk Square Embroidered With Dragons. China End Of Qing Circa 1900."
Large yellow silk square embroidered with 5 dragons in relief. The central dragon is larger than the other 4, which signifies for the emperors the teaching of fathers to sons. Although this model was made in many copies in Vietnam, a French colony, we think that this square was made in China, in fact the friezes are typically Chinese and the dragons are slightly different from Vietnamese dragons, in addition a French customs stamp on the back of the square means that this silk was exported from a foreign country, but at that time Vietnam was considered French territory. The silk has retained its beautiful colors, especially yellow, a slit marks the middle, as can be seen in photos. Dimensions. 137x135cm.
