Michel de Alvis Large gouache on thick paper Locomotive Signed lower left Work from the 60s 71.6 X 91.6 cm Provenance: Michel de Alvis' studio funds Michel de Alvis was born in Montmartre in 1933 where he grew up and frequented the artistic circles of the time. His work is inspired by nature as well as the cities he visited during his travels, mainly around the Mediterranean. His incisive and generous painting is part of the post-war pictorial movements led by Claude Venard in particular, with whom he was a friend. He exhibited all over the world, in France, Spain, Japan, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Africa, Switzerland, from 1959 to 2015.
