History of Saint Vincent de Paul: Born into a modest peasant family, Vincent de Paul began his life as a pig herder in the moors. Although he initially embraced the priesthood to escape this condition, he quickly discovered his true vocation: serving the poorest and the excluded. As the priest of Clichy, chaplain to Queen Margot, tutor to the children of the Gondi family, he was deeply affected by his meeting with Cardinal de Bérulle, whom he considered his spiritual conversion. Having become chaplain to the galley slaves, he encountered the cruelest misery. With Saint Louise de Marillac, he founded the Company of the Daughters of Charity, as well as the Brotherhoods of Charity and the Congregation of the Mission (Lazarists). A man of unwavering gentleness and remarkable humility, Saint Vincent de Paul became a champion of Christian charity. He died murmuring the words that guided his entire existence: "Trust! Jesus!".
