Superb and important ceramic vase from Puisaye ceramic School, signed on the back and intaglio signatire of Eugène LION (1967-1945)
The vase has a roller vase profile that flares slightly upwards, giving it elegance and slenderness
Eugène LION faithfully takes up here the precepts of the master Jean CARRIES and the Puisaye School: ceramics that enhance raw material ceramic itself rather than decoration: the aesthetic is created by interaction of colors, enamel drips and textures that become the center of ceramic creation.
We will note here here specially work on gradients from redhead to oxblood red, on which the artist focused his search on years 1915/1920 and which will contribute to his reputation.
