"Hunting On Historical Damask Linen Table Service - Tablecloth And 24 Napkins - 19th Century"
Exceptional dinner service numbered with the initials JC (2nd half of the 19th century), decorated with a very important hunting decoration deployed on high-quality tightly woven linen, with a silky feel, marked damask and whose material density has been particularly well preserved. This set consists of a large tablecloth measuring 5.15 meters completed with its 24 matching napkins. Each piece displays the same decoration and the same number. Trophy with trumpets intertwined with foliage, deer antlers, dagger and game bag in the lower part occupy the center of each element. These attributes are distinguished in large format on the tablecloth whose borders reveal - over a large width - hunting scenes in the undergrowth, hunters, greyhounds running, groves and fences, deer, game on the ground and in the air. All enhanced at the edge by a frieze with symmetrical patterns. All the pieces are generously enriched with hunting scenes teeming with details and densely nourished with symbols borrowed from the codified art of hunting of the 19th century. Monograms embroidered at the corner of each napkin. Two relatively discreet numbers are bordered at the corner of the large tablecloth. Table service in perfect condition. Only two napkins each have a slight storage glow, considerably attenuated by washing (see detailed photo). Old white linen, washed and ironed.
