"Ravrio - Miniature Portrait Of A Satyr, Souvenir Of The Grand Tour, Gilt Bronze On Porphyry Background"
Beautiful miniature portrait of a satyr with goat horns depicted in an antique mask, early 19th century. The miniature is composed of the mask in bronze gilded with fine mercury gold, standing out against a painted background in the style of green porphyry marble in a blackened wooden frame with a gilded brass sight. On the back is old paper. This bronze is a production of the bronzier André Antoine Ravrio (1759-1814), which we find on a Rvrio clock. Beautiful refined object typical of souvenirs from the Grand Tour, an aristocratic educational journey across Europe made by young men from the highest classes of European society from the 17th to the 19th century. Ideal for completing a 19th century neoclassical decoration with one of those small details that create an authentic atmosphere. In very good condition, composed of old elements, the whole works very well and naturally. Very good quality gilding and chiseling. Frame dimensions: 10.8cm x 10.7cm
