This dish with its original decoration of the twelve signs of the zodiac with in its center the motif of a boat sailing away at sea is from the Henriot Quimper factory (mark on the back of the dish) and signed Alaux. Gustave Alaux (1887-1965) born in Bordeaux is a painter, illustrator, engraver, specialized in marine subjects from 1926, he joined the Marine Academy in 1946.
