"Terracotta Bas-relief Circa 1600"
Important terracotta bas-relief from the end of the 16th or the beginning of the 17th century, representing the carrying of the cross. This work by an Italian artist, very expressive, was probably part of a Stations of the Cross. It shows Christ carrying his burden, surrounded by Roman soldiers, and probably Saint Veronica in the foreground. In the background of this scene, the city of Jerusalem. Remarkable state of preservation, with a very beautiful patina. A trace on the back suggests that the top of the work was broken and restored.
