Pewter PLATE with a molded round edge.
Control hallmark clearly affixed: crown / CC / 1709 / TOL. (CC for common pewter and TOL for TOLOSA, the former name of the city).
Diameter: 22.3 cm.
TOULOUSE, 18th century

Very good condition In Toulouse, the royal edict of 1691 establishing the regulations relating to the control of pewter works was not respected. The vintage of the hallmark had to be updated annually but in fact we only know the hallmarks of 1691, 1695 and that of 1709 for this center. The latter continued to be used during the century and therefore does not allow us to precisely date the objects that bear it. Toulouse is however no exception because we have noted this failure to update controls in many production centers in the kingdom.
