""at The Restaurant" Marguerite Lemaire"
Marguerite LEMAIRE (pseudonym GHY LEMM) was born in 1888 in Fontenoy le Château in the Vosges. She died in 1962. Self-taught, she chose, like the writer Colette whom she admired, to take a pseudonym. A well-off young girl (her father owned a large brasserie), she moved in high society circles. Her painting, full of vivacity and great modernity, depicts Parisian life in the Roaring Twenties. She painted on the spot, frequenting fashion shows in the salons of the stylist Rose Valois, Parisian cafés, water games, etc. She married the Swedish painter Hans Ekegardh in 1910. They exhibited together in the same Parisian salons (des Indépendants, d'Automne and des Tuileries). The painting I am presenting to you comes from the sale of her studio on December 13, 2007 in Lyon. Marguerite Lemaire is featured in the "Bénézit". The painting is highlighted by a magnificent Montparnasse frame in wood and gilded and patinated stucco. The dimensions with the frame are: 52 cm x 60 cm. The costs of protection, shipping and insurance by Colissimo suivi are €45 for France and €55 for the European Union. For the rest of the world, contact me.
