Beautiful work by Raymond Charlot (1879 - ? ) in original frame. The Belgian painter Raymond Charlot trained at the Antwerp Academy. In 1904 and 1907 he participated in the preparatory competition for the Rome Prize (a prestigious incentive prize for young artists and architects). After a stay in Paris, Raymond Charlot settled in Brussels in 1935. His work includes paintings with flowers, landscapes and rural scenes but he is mainly known for beautiful portraits and female figures in the Art Deco style. This painting is a vivid example: a figure of a woman dressed in green, with a large hat, makeup and hairdo typical of the 1920s; she looks at the viewer from above with her dark-haired eyes, almost hidden by the brims of her hat. She is certainly one of the painter's favourite models as she appears in numerous paintings.
Excellent state of preservation, in its original carved wooden frame.
