"Boutet's Senior Officer's Saber "
High-ranking officer's sabre, model of the Maison du Roi, by Boutet in Versailles, three-branched guard in chased and gilded brass, decorated with foliage at the base of the branches and at the top; the main branch is hallmarked: "BOUTET"; half-ears in the shape of a palmette; quillon inflected downwards ending with a fleur-de-lis in the round, openwork; oval cap, engraved on the top: "The Duke of Angoulême to Lieutenant-General Vallin for services rendered in Spain"; fuse covered with gray shagreen, filigree. Strong blade gilded and blued one third, decorated on each side with trophies of arms; the second third is etched, on one side: "Sans Peur" and, on the other: "Sans Reproche"; the back is signed: "Klingenthal". Iron scabbard with two loop bracelets, bordered on each side with a wide net; dart in the shape of a rounded button; it is signed, on the front, at the top: "Boutet Directeur Artiste Manufacture à Versailles". very good condition
