Emile NOIROT was born in Roanne in 1853 and died in 1924 in Saint-Germain-des-Fossés. Following in his father's footsteps, Emile Noirot surpassed his master and his fame. Painter for the Ministry of the Navy, out of competition at the salon of the Society of French Artists, Emile was a great traveler while prioritizing his family ties. Although he travelled the coasts of the Channel, Brittany and Normandy, and enjoyed Venice, Provence and the mountains of the Alps and Velay, it was in the Roanne region and in Saint-Chamond - the black city - that his works most often enjoyed their blossoming and creative fervour. As for the subtle charms of Forez, they forced the artist to control his passion. His "style" ranked him among the romantics, realists, on the fringe of impressionism.
A good number of his works are in museums...
