Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid, Ismael de La Serna began exhibiting at the age of 19, he illustrated the first work of his friend Fédérico Garcia Lorca, and settled in Paris in 1921, bonding with the artists of Montparnasse, Juan Gris, Gargallo, Soutine, Kisling ... and especially Picasso. He exhibited at Paul Guillaume and participated in numerous exhibitions, both in France and abroad, Berlin, Madrid, New York ...
Upon his arrival in Paris, La Serna adopted Cubism, which he interpreted with his fanciful and expressionist temperament. He experimented with different paths, resulting in an eclectic work from Abstraction to Realism.
"The bouquet in front of the window" is part of his research on the border of Surrealism, which he experimented with in the 1930s.
His works can be found in many French and foreign museums.
