Baluster-shaped pewter wine pitcher with straight and oblique foot and goblet, raised flat-top lid and acorn thumb.
Control hallmark: CC crowned / 1709 / TOL (for Tolosa).
Height: 21.9 cm.
TOULOUSE, 18th century

In very good condition and of rare provenance.
The typology of the pitchers from this center, with their raised flat-top lid, is clearly of medieval inspiration.
In Toulouse, the royal edict of 1691 regulating the control was not respected and this hallmark with the vintage of 1709 was never updated and was used for a large part of the century. It therefore does not allow us to date precisely the objects that bear it. I would like to point out in passing that these pitchers were the wine measures of the Ancien Régime.
