Rare rectangular box in tortoiseshell and piqué, work from Naples from the 18th century, the lid decorated with an embracing couple surrounded by two cherubs in a silver and mother-of-pearl cartouche, the other 5 sides decorated with silver cartouches, small accidents and losses, nevertheless it is a rare and beautiful document of this technique called piqué which makes the tortoiseshell sparkle in the manner of embroidery, it is the Neapolitans who made it a specialty, the Huguenots brought this technique to England around 1770
