"Large 18th Century Ruby Glass Goblet, Holy Empire Intaglio Of Coat Of Arms"
Superb large goblet from ruby Bohemian glass, (Rubinglass), blown, (some bubbles visible), cut ofsides, thick flat bottom intaglio engraved of prestigious coat of arms: Baron of Holy Roman Empire of which we found the trace… (Thanks to Laurent, Heraldist)
“Franz Wilhelm von Rosenbusch auf Notzing died in 1736 obtained the title of baron of Holy Roman Empire  1689 and had his coat of arms engraved as well as that of his wife Maria Johanna von Muggenthal on the pediment of one of his castles, Eichhofen!. They had a son, Peter Franz Wilhelm v Rosenbusch 1698 died 1768 and married Maria Juliana von Stingelheim. The line will die out with their daughter Maria Johanna who died in 1796. »
This goblet probably dates from early 18th century, period when Rubinglass was fashionable for prestigious glassware.
Good condition, light wear; no flaws.
