Gustave Obiols, born Gustau Obiols i Delgado on August 14, 1859 in Barcelona, is a Spanish sculptor associated with the neoclassical movement and Art Deco. He is the brother of the painter Manuel Obiols Delgado. After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, he moved to Paris at the age of twenty, where he perfected his art under the tutelage of masters such as Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse and Eugène Delaplanche. He began to exhibit regularly at the Salon des artistes français from 1889. His works, often produced in bronze by renowned foundries such as the Fonderie Eugène Blot and the Société des bronzes de Paris, are distinguished by their elegance and refinement. Among his distinctions, he received a bronze medal at the 1900 Universal Exhibition for his work "Diane chasseresse". He also participated in various international exhibitions, notably in Madrid, Lille, Amiens and Le Mans. In 1900, the magazine "Art & Décoration" highlighted the quality of his busts, highlighting the flexibility of his modeling and his personal approach. Gustave Obiols died on June 7, 1935 in Paris, leaving behind an artistic legacy appreciated by collectors and art lovers.
