"Louis-claude Malbranche (1790-1838) Scene Of Country Life In The Snow Oil On Canvas"

Louis-Claude Malbranche (1790-1838) Scene of country life in the snow oil on canvas circa 1820

Paintings of scenes of life or villages under the snow are always full of beauty.

Louis-Claude Malbranche gives us his interpretation of the harshness of country village life in the early 19th century. The village comes to life, everyday life under the snow, the country folk going about their business.

A beautiful and poetic animated landscape, depicting a village under the snow, with a cloudy sky.

Our painting is not signed, the attribution was given by the Cabinet d'expertise Turquin.

Sizes unframed: H 12.20 Inches. - W 14.96 Inches.
Sizes framed:     H 19.29 Inches. - W 22.04 Inches.

In good condition, we have done a professional cleaning, and small repairs in the sky. Our painting is presented in its original carved and gilded wood frame.

Biography:

Louis-Claude Malbranche: September 2, 1790, in Caen - November 4, 1838, in Caen, was a French lithographer and painter of landscapes and seascapes.

It is with his snows that Malbranche has acquired the most reputation; he has especially the merit to have overcome, as far as it was possible, the difficulty and the monotony of the subject. In the other parts of the landscape, some critics have reproached him for being too easy, which is perhaps due to his need to sell. Whatever the case, his snows have an incontestable superiority over all that has been done, in this genre, by French painters, and put him next to the good Flemish painters.
