"Empire Style Miniature Frame"
Beautiful quality for this Empire style miniature frame, to put down or hang, late 19th century period. Wooden baguette frame with flat groove enhanced on the edges with thin fillets and decorated at the corners with applied elements in chiseled bronze with rosette, lyre and swan motifs. Marie-louise in brass with granular background, enhanced at the corners with the same elements with swans leaning against a lyre, its circular interior frame measures approximately 5.5 cm in diameter (visible) and is fitted with glass. Some minimal traces of visible oxidation. Delicate pediment in chiseled and openwork bronze with rich decoration of foliage, cornucopias, chestnut leaves (symbol of protection and benevolence), as well as strawberries (symbol of purity and friendship). As for the motifs of the lyre, the rosette and the swan already present under Louis XVI, they are inspired by Antiquity but also by astrology and very often illustrate the Empire period. Back fitted with a suspension ring, covered with an olive-green fabric, and a foot to put down. Good general condition. Delivery: €10 for mainland France
