Magnificent deer of Saint Hubert in pastels under a high forest made in pastels. Above his head, is depicted the white and luminous cross reported by the legend. A rich palette of colors in the tones of autumn: green, brown, beige, red ... respond brilliantly. Signature "A. Margat" at the bottom towards the center. The work is titled and countersigned on the back where we learn that it was exhibited at the Hotel Ritz Place Vendôme (in Paris) in 1948 - 1950 in the window of the hatter Gelot - himself - located Place Vendôme for an exhibition on hunting. It is highlighted by a period framing strip in dark oak for a beautiful ensemble! Dimensions: 94 cm x 70 cm pastel at sight 1.06 mx 82 cm with the frame Very good condition. Trained at the Beaux-Arts and Decorative Arts of Paris, he joined in 1931 the "Groupe des Douze" which brought together around Pompon and Jane Poupelet animal artists Paul Jouve, Jean-Claude de Saint-Marceaux and many others.
