Listed in the Revue archéologique de Narbonnaise, volume 6, 1973, under number 16 (fig. 17). Beautiful Campanian cup of the Lamboglia A6 type, representative of Mediterranean craftsmanship of the 2nd century BC. This artifact embodies the functional elegance of ceramic productions of the period and testifies to a ritualized funerary use. Description: • Material: Terracotta with paste and coating similar to No. 13, with a beautiful patina testifying to its antiquity. • Shape: Wide, open cup, with a slightly marked circular foot. • Technique: Precise turning with visible flats on the outer side. Four finger marks are clearly marked around the foot and on the side, testifying to the mastered gesture of the potter. • Internal decoration: Two concentric grooves made on the wheel, creating a sober but balanced decoration. • Wear: Particularly worn coating on the inside, especially on the central part and on the lip, as well as on the outside under the lip and on the edges created by turning. Use: These Campanian cups were mainly intended for funeral rituals and offerings placed with the deceased. Their sobriety and black finish gave them a strong symbolic role, marking the transition between the world of the living and the afterlife. • Condition: Missing and one broken-glued, with a slight chip. The natural traces of wear do not in any way affect the readability of the details or the quality of the object.
