Mahogany and mahogany veneer chest of drawers Restoration period circa 1820 Stamped Maigret * in two places With rich finely chiseled gilt bronze trim Opening with 5 drawers on the front, one at the waist and one in the plinth Grey veined marble top Oak frame Restoration of use in our workshop French polish In very good condition Alexandre Maigret (1780-1825) was one of the most important suppliers to the imperial furniture store from 1805 until his retirement in 1826. He began his dual activity as an upholsterer and cabinetmaker in 1775 at number 20 rue Vivienne in Paris. He delivered furniture to the palaces of Versailles, Saint-Cloud, Fontainebleau (Madame Mère's apartment) and the Tuileries as well as the palace of Laeken near Brussels. His activity gradually declined under the Restoration and he sold part of his stock and the Savonnerie carpets to the royal furniture store in 1826 before retiring.
