BIOGRAPHY: Alain Bonnefoit is a French artist born in 1937, known mainly for his works representing women, often in sensual and elegant poses. He is considered a master of the female nude and works in several techniques, including oil painting, watercolor and lithography, like the one I am showing you. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and at the École des Arts Décoratifs. Bonnefoit also deepened his art in Italy, where he immersed himself in classical techniques while developing a modern and personal style. His style is characterized by simplicity of lines, a delicate palette and an approach that highlights the grace and natural beauty of his subjects, influenced by Eastern philosophy, notably sumi-e, a Japanese painting technique. Lithographs, like this one, are often limited editions, numbered and signed, which gives them a certain value, especially among collectors of contemporary art.
