Very beautiful oil on canvas measuring 38cm x 46cm plus frame 57cm x 65cm representing horses in Camargue signed lower left Yves BRAYER Yves Brayer born in Versailles in 1907, died in 1990 Painter, illustrator, lithographer, watercolourist, theatre decorator and costume designer Student of Lucien Simon, friend of Jean-Louis Forain, he appeared in many Parisian Salons. His main personal exhibitions took place in Paris, London, New York, Geneva, Cologne, Madrid, etc... He was a professor at the Académie de La Grande Chaumière and Curator of the Musée Marmottan in Paris. First Grand Prix de Rome in 1930. He settled in Cordes in the Tarn in 1940. A Mediterranean painter par excellence, he worked regularly in Provence and Camargue from 1945. A museum is dedicated to him in the very baux village of Baux de Provence.
