Object description :

"Antique Tchi-tchi Wedding Carpet, 142 X 193, Hand-knotted Wool, Chechnya, 1924, Caucasus "
Tchi-tchi wedding carpet dated at the top of the niche 1342, which corresponds to 1924 (100 years) this piece measures 142 cm wide by 193 cm long. Very good condition for its age.
Old restorations are visible, which in no way alter the quality and beauty of the piece.
Type of old carpet relatively rare on the market.
## The colors and designs are characteristic of the Tchi-tchi type.
The secondary borders are decorated with eight-pointed stars, "stars of Solomon", and small sticks placed diagonally.
The field is covered with very tight patterns, an abundance of shapes but without attacking the eye for a dense knotting.
The colors are soft, curry yellow, red, brown on a dark blue background.
The patterns are mainly: - trees of life, - stylized bustards, the bustard is a large bird native to the plains of the Caucasus, Central Asia and Persia, - carnation flowers, - - stars of Medes. Together, they cover this rare artifact of Caucasian culture, composed of a large niche surrounded by borders with complex designs.
This type of carpet is knotted by the Chechen tribes, sedentary or semi-nomadic, as well as by the Ingush.
For information: These populations were deported en masse by Stalin to Central Asia during the Second World War, because they were suspected of being pro-German.
They did not return to their country until 1957.
This superb testimony of the Caucasus is dated 1924, knotted in a cartouche, accompanied by a heart and a signature, which leads us to think that we are in front of a wedding carpet.
The velvet is in very good condition with old restorations.
The fringes are uneven but clean. The edges are restored so in perfect condition.
This piece celebrates its 100th anniversary, it is a rare & magnificent Chechen collection rug from the Caucasus.
Dimensions: Width: 142 cm (56 ") x 193 cm (78")
This rug has been cleaned in a professional and ecological way.
