front and back glass cover.
Dial restored, but almost invisible because the dial is behind glass. The case is of a particularly high quality in terms of chasing and gold plating for which Ridel was known. Runs and strikes as should be, with key.
Signed "Ridel à Paris"
Laurent Ridel, one of the oldest Parisian clockmakers of the 18th century, signed his name with the word "Ridel à Paris". Although the date of registration of his master's letters is unknown, it is known that he had his workshop on Rue aux Ours. Ridel was one of the Parisian luxury product makers of his time.. Like the best Parisian clockmakers of his time, Ridel relied on the best craftsmen to make the cases of his clocks, working in particular with the bronziers Feuchère, Denière and Deverberie, with the enamellers Coteau and Merlet.
