"Maestro Gianpistone Modern Art Avant-garde Mask “gu Baulé” Studio Arte Team 66 Rome 1978"
MODERN ART-SCULPTURE-ARTE POVERA AVANT-GARDE MASK GU BAULÉ PATINATED PAPER MACHINE ROME 1978 STUDIO ARTE EQUIPE 66 ´MAESTRO GIANPISTONE Very rare work by Maestro Gianpistone (Rome 1929-2020), avant-garde artist. After studying art and traveling extensively around the world, he created in 1966 the "studio Arte equipe 66" in Testacxio, the district of Rome where he was born. The studio, this avant-garde collective, worked on anthropological, sociological research for therapeutic and educational purposes, through the artistic mediums of theater, poetry, jazz and folklore from many countries. Our work, dated 1978, offered for a departure it seems, has a large number of signatures of the members of the Studio 66 era, including that of Maestro Gianpistone (see photos). We find its abundant similar ones at the "Museum of papier-mâché ethnological masks and cribs" (Museo della Cartapesta Maschere Etnologiche e Presepe) at the International Center of Ethno-history in Palermo, Sicily. Beautiful work in papier-mâché representing a Gu Baulé mask from Ivory Coast, Diara region, with blue/green and gold patina. Original supporting label. Very good condition (see descriptive photos)
