The opening of the vase is hidden behind the face depicting the leaping carp and the waves.

It is common to see carp depicted, and particularly these leaping carp, in Japan at the end of the 17th century. Some models have been mounted and adapted.
A few flaws, firing cracks and a few lines in the glaze, some hairlines, most of them non going-through, that have been cleaned and are almost invisible, one of which is longer on the reverse; the end of the opening of the vase has also been polished on the reverse.
