Pewter PITCHER in the shape of a baluster with a flared foot, a lid called "in a postilion's boot" with a recessed lid and a thumb with a molded crest. Height: 14 cm.
CHARTRES, Mid-19th century

Areas of pitting on one side, visible in the photographs.
These pitchers, produced by the VOVELLE, were often used as "ration pitchers" in the religious or hospital communities of the region.
This "postilion boot" shaped goblet is characteristic of this production center and some neighbors such as CHATEAUDUN, MONTARGIS, ORLEANS...
