Hand engraved and from China.
Created in the late 19th century, early 20th century, it is cast in bronze, and reflects the know-how of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644).
This gives it historical importance and charm.
The piece is in very good condition.
The representation of auspicious symbols, lined with Greek.
## The whole is of quality, the scenes are finely chiseled,
- Carp: In Chinese, the carp represents luck, in particular because the word "fish" is pronounced in the same way as the word "abundance"
- Mussel: Symbol of purity and renewal, the mussel embodies the richness of the seabed and the quiet strength of the ocean.
- Crane: Cranes are, or have been, in the Far East, carriers of many symbols. Their assertive character as migratory birds has made them, in China, the symbol of the cyclical return to life.
- Pheasant: Originating from the South, the pheasant was the insignia of the 2nd rank (golden pheasant) and 5th rank (silver pheasant) of civil servants among the mandarin squares in use under the Ming and Qing dynasties; it is as such one of the symbols of officials in the imperial service.
- Kirin: In Chinese mythology, Kirin is a lucky beast that represents peace and good fortune. In times of chaos, lifelike Kirin were carefully carved to express the soldiers' expectation of peace.
