Object description :

"Globe Clock, France, Circa 1908"
Interesting clockwork globe mounted on a pendulum, France, unsigned, circa 1908. The globe, made of plaster, cardboard and paper, measures 18-20cm in diameter. It is mounted between two steel circles connected to two clockwork wheels that allow it to pivot on itself according to the hours of the clock placed in the hollow of its wooden base. The globe is not signed but can be dated, according to the cartography of Africa, around 1908 since the Belgian Congo is mentioned but the Cape Colony had not yet been replaced by the Cape Province to form the Union of South Africa. The clockwork system does not appear to be in working order. The pendulum has been retouched with ink. The globe is slightly dislocated at the equator and has some missing cartography (visible in the photos). However, an unusual form of globe-pendulum, quite decorative. 41cm high, 22cm wide and 22cm wide.
