"Oil On Canvas Still Life With Roses Signed Courtens Herman - 19th Century"
Very beautiful oil on canvas signed Courtens H, Still life with roses" - XIXth Painter born in Saint-Josse--Ten-Node (1884 -1956), son of Franz Courtens and student of Isidore Verheyden, trained at the Academy of Brussels. He has a predilection for landscapes but above all for floral compositions, camping interiors, genre scenes, city views. Realism all in paste with a native impressionist touch. He notably illustrated a collection of poems by Larcel Wyseur, he was a professor at the Higher Institute of Antwerp; we find works at the museum of Antwerp, at the Groeninge museum in Bruges.
