An exceptional piece of furniture with this unique commode circa 1700, with a curved front opening to four drawers on three rows.
Our commode features superb inlaid walnut, thuja, ash, sycamore, elm, and ebony fillets. The wooden top is richly inlaid with scrolls, with a medallion bust in the center. The rounded jambs are richly inlaid with medallions in reserve, fleur-de-lys, and stylized letters, and feature straight legs. The drawers are inlaid with scrolls and ducal crowns in filleted frames. The sides are inlaid with Basque crosses and inverted Basque crosses. The inlaid apron and inlaid uprights with a monogram, are certainly an indication of the commode's owner circa 1700.
