Important composition from the late 1970s painted on an isorel panel, the painter used sand and resin to cover meanders of canvas or veins in an abstract way.
When I bought it, I thought it would be ideal in a cardiologist's office.
This painting is signed lower right J.SICURANI* and dated 1977 it seems.

*Born in Valle d'Orezza (Corsica), the cradle of his family, Joseph Sicurani is a painter and associate professor of visual arts. After studying art in the Beaux Arts de Paris and literary workshops at the Sorbonne, he was appointed at his request as a professor of visual arts at the Corte high school. He distinguished himself through a large number of exhibitions, both in France and abroad. He was behind the creation of the plastic arts department at the University of Corsica. A Corsican speaker from a young age, from 1948 he developed a passion for the in-depth study of his mother tongue and undertook fruitful linguistic research in the field, with different sections of the population. His studies in classical literature led him to discover the richness of the Greco-Latin heritage in the island dialects. In 1960, under the title Galtic Art, he published a brochure intended to revive rural crafts in Corsica. In 1972, he wrote Corte and its surroundings on behalf of the tourist office. In 1992 the CRDP of Ajaccio published Cunterji di documenti iconugrai chi, commentaries on iconographic documents, a bilingual educational work intended to prepare for the baccalaureate exam. Continuing his investigations at a time when Corsican had retained all its authenticity, he was able to paint a broad panorama, covering more than half a century, of an idiom that was soon to wither away, undermined by thoughtless borrowings from the major vehicular languages. Against all odds, the author was able to maintain traditional spelling, convinced that tradition is the only thing that can guarantee the idiom's follow-up and sustainability. For him, the decline of the language is a prelude to the alienation of identity. In order to stop this warning sign, he believes that the mother tongue can only obtain its letters of nobility through teaching. He was also the first, along with six other colleagues, to open free Corsican courses at the Corte high school on 12 March 1970. In 1988, his time at the rectorate as advisor to the Rector for teaching Corsican language and culture, in charge of the IPR mission, was interrupted by a painful family bereavement. Joseph Sicurani taught Corsican to the final year students at the Corte high school, to students in the Corsican stream at the University and the IUFM. In 1989 he was appointed president of the literary jury for the "Prix de Corse". For twenty years, he wrote two columns in the vernacular in the daily Corse-Matin and the weekly La Corse votre hebdo, three volumes of which have already been published. In 1996 he won the "Prix du livre corse", which led the journalist-writer C Giudici to say: "Le Dettu di l'etima is the successful and unique gamble of real journalistic work in the Corsican language through the writing, each week, of a column in a major regional daily" Corse Matin, August 12, 1996.
