"Silas Broux : "the Pebble Beach""
Silas Broux (1867-1957): "La plage aux galets", oil on canvas 60 X 90.5 cm, mounted in a large dark oak frame 77 X 107 cm. Signed and dated 1897. The artist from Douai painted both in France and in Belgium, his best works exuding a post-impressionist poetry of great delicacy. Our painting is related to these, describing this empty beach, just punctuated by the pebbles in the foreground at the foot of the dunes in a soft light filtered by the clouds...
