This bust in the symbolist vein of a woman dressed in Renaissance fashion takes up the iconography of Beatrice, Dante's muse, who inspired the character who guides him from purgatory to paradise in The Divine Comedy. Her head with its perfect oval and fine features is covered with a veil held by a fleur-de-lys tiara, her gaze is lowered and the square neckline as well as the rest of the garment are decorated with delicately chiseled patterns.
