"Fine Woven Cashmere Scarf Cream Background With Boteh Decor - France Circa 1825-1840"
Circa 1825-1840 France Beautiful French cashmere scarf woven in wool dating from the Romantic period. Large ivory reserve framed at the ends by four boteh, thus approaching the Indian model of the early 19th century. Very fine borders and friezes in surgalerie, fringes sewn in ivory wool on both ends. Weaving on a five-color Tire loom with cut wefts giving a velvety appearance to the touch. A few small rust spots (foxing) in the reserve, really very discreet, and a few rare tiny moth holes which do not affect the solidity of this shawl when handled. Wearable or to use as decoration without problem. Good condition of color and conservation. Dimensions: Width 63 cm Length 288 cm.
