"Roman Chasuble In Silver Brocade With Bizarre Decor - Italy Circa 1730"
First half of the 18th century Italy Rare Complete Roman-shaped chasuble In silver brocade, Bizarre decoration. Rich old pink Gros de Tours damask, brocaded with silver blades and curly threads that have retained their period tinsel (possibly real silver!). The whole is highlighted with silver braid braid from the same period. Bizarre taste for this brocade forming sinuous branches with mounds of flowering trees of life! Fully lined with glazed ecru buckram bearing in ink an illegible mention in Italian (small dirt on the buckram). Note a few rare micro-cracks in the silk and the braid a little damaged at the shoulders without calling into question its solidity. No major defect. Good structural condition considering its age.
