A Superb Gold Music Box, Masterpiece by Jean-George Remond & Co. (Geneva, 1804-1811) Discover this exceptional gold music box, made by the artisans of Jean-George Remond & Co. in Geneva between 1804 and 1811. Rectangular in shape, it is adorned with refined decorative motifs engraved on its gilded surface. The borders are embellished with floral friezes covered in deep blue enamel, offering a striking contrast. The upper lid, connected by a hinged mechanism, is richly decorated with a floral ornament. At its center, a lyre, symbolizing harmony between art and poetry, is surrounded by small, vibrant turquoise stones and delicate half-pearls. The rounded back and sides feature a guilloché decoration of timeless elegance. Inside, a rare "sur-plateau" musical mechanism, attributed to Piguet & Meylan, plays a delicate and joyful melody. It is started via a small lever at the back, and the winding key fits discreetly into a corner. Dimensions: 6.55 x 4.65 x 1.35 cm, total weight: 115 g.
