"Jerusalem Delivered, Italian Painting, Late 17th Century "
Oil on canvas from the end of the 17th century, by an Italian artist (perhaps Venetian) of the late Baroque, representing an episode of Jerusalem Delivered after the work of Torquato Tasso. In a very "Roman" decorum, we see King Aladdin ordering Clorinde to accompany Argant to attack Godfrey of Bouillon who is besieging Jerusalem. This scene is a pretext for a theatrical demonstration of sophisticated attitudes, with a profusion of rich fabrics, warlike accessories... The colors are beautiful and unaltered by time. The pictorial layer is in very good general condition. There is just a small restoration in the lower left corner, not very invasive. Very good condition of presentation, in a gilded frame from the beginning of the 19th century (some missing parts). Total dimensions: 54 X 41 cm, and 44 X 31 cm for the canvas.
