"René Ligeron (1880 - 1946) Wooded Path Near The Village In Autumn Barbizon"
Pretty Barbizon countryside scene with the village illuminated by the last rays of the setting sun in early autumn in the background. A rich palette of colours in shades of ochre, light and darker, grey, sea green and even bright yellow with a few touches of coral cleverly applied to set the scene for this beautiful end of the day. Signature "R. Ligeron" at the bottom right. Dimensions: 41 cm x 32.5 (6 F format) Made on a bevelled mahogany panel from the supplier of artist materials, Maison Lefranc Bourgeois (stencilled stamp on the back). René Ligeron, referenced in Bénézit, is a painter and engraver born in 1880 who exhibited at the Salons of French artists and French watercolourists. Good condition. Dirt, small, very discreet paint losses (see photos). It could do with a light cleaning. Please note that I respond to any request about my objects.
