BICORNED GENDARME HAT, model 1872, Third Republic.

Shaped like a three-cornered hat, H at the front 12.5 cm, H at the back 19.5 cm, in waterproof felt, edged on each side of the horns with a silver braid woven in Hungarian point 3.2 cm wide. Flat braid 5 cm wide, with a 4 mm black stripe in its center, ending in a point, braid length approximately 11 cm. Cockade in tricolor colors, diameter 7.5 cm. Silver-plated metal uniform button stamped with the flaming bomb with the legend "Gendarmerie - Public Order". Inner cap in black fabric partly marked "..... Accepted Gendarmerie". New registration number 557. Good general condition, cap worn. Size 56/57 cm.
