Very beautiful box entirely lined with gold.

The box is round, in brown tortoiseshell. The body is concave, a typical shape of the end of the 18th century, after the Revolution, and of the First Empire.

The interior of the box is entirely lined with large gold rings and a thin plate on the bottom and in the lid.

A small gold "nail" also adorns the center of the lid.

The gold mount is hallmarked:
. Bear's head: "gold assay" hallmark of the city of Paris for 750/°° gold
. 1st rooster hallmark for 3rd title gold (750/°°) in Paris between 1798 and 1809
. Man's head hallmark of guarantee for Paris from the same period
. Illegible goldsmith's hallmark

Superb box, large diameter for this type of production, with a large gold mount contrasting admirably with the brown tortoiseshell.
