History of the Persian Kashan Carpet:
The Persian Kashan carpet is named after the city of Kashan in central Persia, known for its centuries-old tradition of producing hand-knotted carpets. Carpets from Kashan are characterized by their fine patterns, high-quality materials, and precise craftsmanship. They are a symbol of the skill and creativity of Persian carpet weavers.
Patterns and Culture of the Persian Kashan Carpet:
The pattern of the Persian Kashan carpet is inspired by the rich Oriental culture and art. Typical are the floral motifs, delicate vines, and geometric shapes that create a harmonious overall picture. Each carpet tells its own story with its patterns and colors, reflecting the tradition and culture of its region of origin.
In a magnificent hand-knotted carpet from Isfahan, Iran, the fine silk carpets of Shiraz, Tabriz, and Kashan are mirrored. From Tehran to Yazd and from Kerman to Mashhad, Persian carpets tell the stories of Nain, Qom, and Ardabil. The robust Gabbeh carpets of the Qashqai from Malayer and Kavir, as well as the intricate knots from Baluch and Golestan, capture the essence of the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea. In the picturesque cities of Isfahan, Shiraz, and Tabriz, the art of carpet weaving thrives, while Kashan, Tehran, and Yazd preserve the traditions of Persian carpets. The ancient cities of Kerman and Mashhad are known for their intricate carpet patterns, while Ardabil, Bidjar (Bijar), and Ziegler are home to some of the finest Persian carpets. The rural areas of Malayer and Kavir are the homeland of the robust Gabbeh carpets of the Qashqai.
