Large And Magnificent Military Portrait Of An Aristocratic Personage Circa 1750

Large and magnificent military portrait from the mid-18th century featuring an aristocratic character in armor. The military portrait was widely used to represent the blood nobility linked to the profession of arms. The military clothes are sparkling and richly decorated and accompanied by helmets, swords or military medals. We find on this painting a richly decorated armor with gilding, white silk fabrics, a helmet and a military medal. Without a doubt this aristocrat is an important character with a sure regard for his status and an elegant gesture.
Painting from the mid-18th century in its period frame in oak wood carved with scallop shells, interlacing and flowery spandrels gilded with gold leaf. Painting with old relining, very few repaints.
