Pair of hand-knotted Sarough rugs in kork wool, originally from Persia, (Iran).
The size of these rugs, 135 cm x 197 cm corresponds to the "Dozar" format.
A rug is a little wider by about 2 cm in width than is expected for antique handmade rugs.
The color of the wool has remained bright and the academic design is inspired by the old Kashan, another type of Iranian rugs.
The colors are fresh and bright without alterations.
This pair of rugs is in very good condition, clean, the edges impeccable, the pile in very good condition.
## It is rare nowadays to find a pair from the beginning of the 20th century around 1900/1920 in such good condition.
Before 1925, Iran lived under the Qajar dynasty: ## The Qajar dynasty or Qajars: (Qājār, Qajar, Qajar, Persian: قاجار) is a Turkmen dynasty that reigned over Iran from 1786 to 1925.
The Sarouk carpet, also called Hamadan, the Ecbatana of Antiquity, is the production of a few villages.
European buying houses have had offices there since the middle of the 19th century.
Many of these carpets are nicknamed hamadan by traders. In particular the runner carpets, a large number of which are made in this region.
They have their own distinct identity and the type of our models is the Sarouk or Sarough. Knotted in the small town of this name but marketed in Hamadan. These carpets are very popular in America which appreciates heavy luxurious pieces.
