"“deauville Beach”. Jacques Potin (1920-2009)"
Jacques POTIN (1920 - 2009) Born December 14, 1920 in Paris. 20th century. Since around 1964 active in the United States. French. Painter, sculptor, painter of tapestry cartoons. He was a student of Jean Souverbie at the École des Beaux-Ars in Paris. He exhibited in Paris in 1963, then in the United States, where he settled. He showed his work in 1965 in San Francisco, in 1966 in Dallas, in 1967 and 1969 in New York. A painter, he also made numerous tapestries. Elegance and moderation characterize his style. Which did not prevent him, in 1969, from experimenting with a new and rather energetic method of sculpture, using an electron gun to excavate, perforate, and twist the blocks of metal that he worked with his beam. I thus obtain effects of molten metal, flowing, revealing the very interior of the material. MUSEUMS: LAUSANNE (Mus. canton. des Beaux-Arts): Jeux d'eau, sculpt. Oil on canvas signed lower right and titled on the back. Size: 22 x 27 cm with frame: 37 x 42 cm
